Curt Rosengren on Creativity
Want some community-building fun that costs next to nothing? How about an afternoon of Junkyard Golf? What, you might ask, is Junkyard Golf? It's the brainchild of Bernie DeKoven, who had this to say about it in today's issue of Bernie DeKoven's Occasional Newsletter...
For some no longer obvious reason, I found myself working on a lovely little pamphlet describing what was really my first actual Junkyard Golf community building, family event. It was a family event for a small pre-school in Palo Alto called "Leaping Lizards." And it was transforming. So transforming that I eventually transformed it further into a significantly successful teambuilding event - one that has been used with great effect at, for example, Southwest Airlines.
A Junkyard Golf Course and Community Building Event with Potluck isn't like your average family or community event. It's what you might call exceptional. It's a few hours where everybody can play. With almost any one. With almost anything.
Think of the creativity and collaboration, invitations to inclusion, incentives for sharing, that all somehow connect people a little closer to each other and to the world they actually live in together.
Best of all, Bernie offers a whizbang free ten-page "instruction manual" pdf to help you figure it all out.
