Spring Break
Kevin Salwen on Culture

Anyone can do the Florida beach 'Girls Gone Wild' thing. Or hit the slopes in Colorado or Tahoe. But for a truly unique spring break, Skyler Bartels decided to go to... a Wal-Mart Supercenter. He lasted 41 hours. Here's his story. Makes me wonder if anyone else has truly offbeat spring break ideas...

As a rower, spring break never meant anything but pain and exhaustion. I was always a bit jealous that everyone else was off galavanting in the sun while our spring breaks were filled with excruciating two-a-day practices. I remember one time stepping out of the boat onto the dock and my legs buckled. Flat out said, 'We're done.'

Does that count as offbeat?

Spring break, those were good times, I wish I had taken better advantage of them while I still got them.
