Bill Valentine: On Less
Martin Flaherty on Podcast

Bill Valentine is chairman of HOK, one of the world's leading architectural design and service firms. For years Bill has been communicating the message of 'less': less space usage, less resource consumption and reconsidering how we live our lives in relation to the world around us.

At Greenbuild, I spoke with Bill on a range of subjects around the idea of less. We discuss not only how we live, but considered how we can reconnect with our environment and our communities.Click here to listen

Nice.

While Valentine's take on the car is interesting, and I share his view on density, how do you explain the desire of people to simply live somewhere new? The suburbs are full of people of mixed race who simply want to be away from the 'urban core'. What needs to be done to build a cross cultural desire for living close to other people? Maybe great schools?

Less is more! I'm a little suprised to hear this from Bill Valentine. His company builds some of the biggest buildings. However, it's really refreshing to hear from one of the most influential leaders in the building industry saying this.
