She Has Balls; How You Can Get Some
Anita Sharpe on Business

Author and speaker Karen Salmansohn (who is scheduled to write a cool story for Worthwhile magazine next year), has a fun and provocative new book out called Ballsy: 99 Ways to Grow a [Bigger] Pair and Score Extreme Business Success. The tone and design evokes Tom Peters, but Salmansohn has an attitude all her own.

A few highlights:

* If at first you don't succeed, you're doing something stupid. Start blaming yourself more, others less. . . and your career will surely rise.

* Perceived value is value. Ask for the big bucks. Value should never be your positioning. Your unique skill set should always be your positioning.

* Delegate what you suck at.

* A grandmother gives her grandson a red sweater and a green sweater for his birthday. Next time she sees him he is wearing the red sweater. 'What's the matter?' she asks. 'You don't like the green sweater?' Red sweater/green sweater people can drain you of your energy --and energy is the fuel for success. (Avoid them.)

Thank you so much for sharing Karen's site with us. This book looks like a fun one, and I'm looking forward to the outstanding article I know she'll present. The wit and wisdom on her site, including the domain name of notsalmon is outstanding.

Hey Anita, Look forward to previewing the book next spring...as to the ideas...I say knit your own sweater, the colour of your choice and forget the worry of having to choose someone else's choice for you. Living la vida fearless, Jan www.tobeyourbest.net

Oops -- in my enthusiasm over this fun book, I overlooked the fact that it won't actually be available in bookstores until next spring. Stay tuned. . .
