The Fuse Shortens
Kevin Salwen on Business

This story came across my screen today, and somehow I wasn't surprised:

NEW YORK -- 2005 is the biggest year ever for chief executives leaving their positions, according to a survey released Tuesday. With 1,110 CEO departures so far, 2005 has already exceeded the dot-com-scarred year of 2000, which had previously held the record, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas, an outplacement firm.

The fuse is shortening in this Results NOW! environment that we find ourselves. Pity the CEO who is try to change the culture, a move that may take, gasp, more than a couple of years.

I would wager that if you looked at those companies that embrace enlightened leadership, you'd see a different, more stable scenario top down.
