Is Business Sexy Again?
Anita Sharpe on Business

My August issue of Vanity Fair just arrived, and I did a doubletake. It looks an awful lot like Manhattan Inc., the glossy business magazine from the 1980s -- back when business people were cool, rather than in the cooler. Martha Stewart, looking at least 20 years younger than her actual age, is on the cover. Another cover headline is: 'How Elle Macpherson Went from Bikini Queen to Lingerie Mogul!' Another reads: 'The Bitter Battle over the Jimmy Choo Shoe Empire.'

I have to say, it's a great issue (the Martha story alone is worth the price of admission.)

Why do we even want it to be sexy? Interesting, fascinating, challenging, motivating, yes. Sexy?? why sexy? i don't get it. There is enough sex in the world, don't think we need to 'sex' it up at all. teen sex, preteen sex, p-word i-word. Etc, I think that is enough sex and sexual dysfunction for me. i don't need sex in my business and if I did, I would start a p-word business? What am I missing here, or are we expanding the word sex into some other category i don't know about? Or are you trying to use it in a different manner? And business people being cool? Cool? Come on, what is this high school again? Oh, I forgot it is high school never ends, it just repeats itself over and over again for some people. The rest of us try to look away but it is never ending. I want to be a part of the sexy cool kids club too!! This is nonsense. also, this post would not go up because of the p-word...meaning the sex industry, the i word, meaning the sexual abuse of a child

When did business stop being sexy?

I don't EVER read Vanity Fair but this sounds like an interesting issue.

I hope business is sexy again. I also hope that the preppy look is coming back just in time for my kids to be teenagers!
