News: Parent sells child!
David Weinberger on Business

Fast Company's parent has put Fast Company up for sale. That makes me sad in multiple ways. And not so coincidentally, it's a reminder that corporate parents really shouldn't be called parents.

Thanks for the votes of confidence, folks. If you feel like spreading the news and feelings further, I'd appreciate the support.

I was disappointed by the news, too! I've subscribed since the beginning, when I was just hitting my stride in my career, and can say without reservation that the FC content and style contributed to my personal and professional success. I have every back issue, even though I could likely find the content on the web now, because I love the look and feel of each piece, the colors, the layout, the *heft*. I think Tom Peters should buy it and then send it off on its own to continue changing the world. Unless you guys want to acquire it :-)

Wow ... that hits close to home. I've been a reader since their third issue. As I just posted on their site, I think they'll be better off without G&J. I think/hope they'll find another buyer who will really let them do what they do best. If that fails, I wrote, maybe they can all come work at Worthwhile!
