Missing the Action (for a brief moment)
Kevin Salwen on Culture

I used to work in an office with lots of people. Now I don't. It's just a few happy souls here at Worthwhile -- plus a team of several dozen more in offices and homes around the country. We don't care much where people work; we hire grown-ups to get jobs done and we let them loose to do it.

But there's a downside I hadn't anticipated. I miss the Office Pool. I feel it most acutely in February and March: No Super Bowl betting, no Oscar Pool, and now no NCAA bracket picking around the Worthwhile headquarters. We simply don't have enough people here to make it fun. And the online versions aren't the same to me -- maybe there's not enough taunting and teasing as the games go on.

Smaller companies and solo workers (not to mention work-from-homers) have these issues. Anyone figured out a good way to solve them? I'll bet you someone has. 3-1 odds.
