Coming Soon: The Worthwhile Music Label
Anita Sharpe on Business

First, Starbucks scoops up eight Grammy awards last month with its Ray Charles 'Genius Loves Company' CD. Now, Toyota's Scion line has launched a record label -- not to make money but to associate the cars with underground music and, Toyota hopes, strengthen the Scion brand.

Clearly, the music business is up for grabs. Anyone can play and potentially walk away with Album of the Year at the Grammys.

Not sure if you have seen the site www.CDbaby.com
CD Baby is a little online record store that sells CDs by independent musicians.
[In•de•pen•dent: (adj.) Not having sold one's life, career, and creative works over to a corporation.]

This is a great site..Check it out while you are having a cup of joe at Starbucks. They have wireless at Starbucks don't they?

Sure anyone can walk away with a Grammy so long as a perfect storm of marketing synergy happens such as what happened with Starbucks. The release of the movie Ray and the untimely (but synergistic) death of Ray Charles created THE perfect storm of marketing synergy. I doubt Starbucks will be able to repeat the success with the Herbie Hancock Hear Music release.
