Does the Same Hold True for Humans?
Anita Sharpe on Life

I have a hound dog who almost never barks. But when he is even the slightest bit uncomfortable, or spots some food out of his reach, he whines --softly but incessantly.

I also have a standard poodle who I have never heard whine. But he barks -- loudly and essentially at anything that moves within 100 feet or so of our house.
My son and I agreed the other night that, of the two, whining is far more annoying.

I can take a little bit of whining, but the constant yap yap yap? No thanks!

Absolutely! Whining is far more annoying than barking--for both supervisors and subordinates.
