The Premiere Issue
Kevin Salwen on Passionate Work
If you're on this site today, you may have noticed the cover of the Premiere Issue of Worthwhile in the top right corner. It has replaced the prototype cover that has held that space since April.
The cover headline of the Premiere Issue -- Joy + Meaning (We're talking about your work) -- reflects so much of what we intend Worthwhile magazine to be about. Joy and meaning, of course, are terms typically related to the social side of an individual's life -- we're flipping that terminology into a career context because we believe that most people want their professional lives to stand for more than a paycheck.
The photo is of Bert and John Jacobs, the Boston brothers who created the brand Life Is Good. (No Photoshop was used; Bert once jumped over six standing people and has no problem leapfrogging John.) We agree that life is indeed good and couldn't have found a better concept for our first cover.
For those of you who already have subscribed to the print edition, we thank you for your confidence in a product sight-unseen. For those who have waited and want to subscribe now, click on the cover photo. For others wanting to test-drive the magazine, copies will be arriving in Barnes and Noble, Borders, Whole Foods and other newsstands within the next two weeks. (For now, we're only in the U.S. but are working on international distribution.)
Thanks for all your support. We'd love to hear what you think about the Premiere Issue.
