Hummers and Heft. A Common Link?
Anita Sharpe on Culture

Perhaps this is an Atlanta thing, but many of the drivers of Hummers and other humongous SUVs I've observed tend to be smallish women.

At the same time, most studies show that obesity correlates with lower economic status. This has long been attributed to too much access to french fries and too little access to kickboxing. But what if the extra girth isn't always unwelcome? What if, in some cases, supersizing ourselves springs from the same source as the desire to drive massive vehicles? Size=power.

Anita = You're killing me here -- the SUV's and small women correlation is for sure!

I've privately always thought the SUV was all about real estate and nothing to do with automotive statements -- isn't it what you buy in order to give your neighbors the idea that you have a 2nd home in the country and lots of free time to enjoy it (turn them green in other words?)
