Super Ads
Kevin Salwen on Culture

Well, I must admit, it was a surprising year for Super Bowl ad watchers like me. Dove rolls out a girls' empowerment campaign. The only real nudity was a sheep. Busby Berkeley gets new life (in a Whopper ad spot). So interesting, so un-Super Bowl.

That said, beer took center stage, simply because of the number of spots, many of which were very clever. USA Today pollsters cited Bud Light's Magic Fridge ad as the top ad. Wall Street Journal online readers rated Fedex's Caveman commercial and Sprint 'anti-theft' device higher. Gillette's Fusion razor spot got consistently low ratings.

Watch them all here. What's your fave?

My Top in no specific order:

-- The Seirra Mist commmercial (airport security)

-- FedEx Cavemen

-- Ameriquest-the one at the hospital and even more the one on the airplane.

-- The Sprint Security

-- All the monkey commercials for Career Builder

-- The 'I'm going to Disney World' one.

-- Two Budweiser Ads: the one with the streaker and the one with the young clidesdale ('I won't tell if you won't')

--The Toyota Truck in the ocean (finally, a creative car commercial!)

-- The Outback Boomerang.

I loved the Dove ad. Hooray for girls empowerment -- it's needed and wonderful.

Those Careerbuilder monkeys are pretty funny, I must say.
