While I hope to someday try #2 on the list, the Trishna restaurant in Bombay, please let me say a word of behalf of the more accessible #32 entry, Martin's Pretzels (martinspretzels.com). Am somewhat biased as my 9-year-old daughter hangs with the 9-year-old daughter of one of its principals, but these handmade pretzels truly are quite unique, delicious and yes, crunchy. NY Times calls them the 'Rolls Royce of the pretzel world' .... which raises the question of whether or not Rolls Royce is still considered the gold standard, but let's not get too complicated ....

I also turned my friend on to Worthwhile, so the circle is complete ....
