The Latest Sign of the Apocalypse
Kevin Salwen on Culture

Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. will give Howard Stern 34 million shares of stock 'worth about $220 million at today's prices' because the company has met agreed-upon targets for gaining new subscribers under its 2004 deal with the shock jock, the Associated Press reports.

I know, I know, he is helping to build Sirius into a viable company. But ain't it a shame that this is what grows an industry?

It's a shame that Pussycat Dolls, Jessica Simpson and 50 cent grow the music industry.
It's a shame that Dan Brown grows the publishing industry.

Lowest common denominator = money.

I'm not a 'Howard Stern' fan, but I am a fan of capitalism.

Harold, so admitted, so admitted.

Kev' old man, Stern kept his part of the bargain and now Sirrius is keeping its part. Perhaps you need to look into the mirror and admit that you just don't like gutter dwelling, infantile, bread and circuses populists and be done with it. At least find some solace in the fact that he admits to suffering from outrageously small genitalia.

Geez, some people just don't know when to grow up....220 million US dollars is a lot of money. Somebody must be listening or they wouldn't have surpassed their target. Perhaps the bigger issue here is this:
Why, if people are offended by this stuff, do they listen? Don't they know where the off button is? GMAB.....the more media coverage the guy gets the faster his 220 million will grow...almost as quickly as his ego. Stop, enough already. Living la vida fearless, Jan www.tobeyourbest.net

...and what should we say about sexual predator Bill O' Reilly, or even that pill-popping load Rush
Limbaugh??? Don't even mention Larry King's rap sheet..... Please, there are parts of the Stern show that are not for everyone, I wouldn't care to meet a majority of his fans, and I can live happily without another stripper interview, but when his show is clicking on all cylinders, he blows away the competition. Stop the sour grapes and give the man some credit

Shame that what grows an industry? Howard Stern=money. Sirius wants money, they get stern, now both Sirius and Stern have lots of money...isn't that what makes the world go around?
