What Took So Long?
Kevin Salwen on At Home

A news release came across my desk this afternoon and since my first reaction was 'Wow, about time!', I thought I'd share it. It's for the first flushable diaper to hit the market in 40 years. Called gDiaper, it finally gives parents the opportunity to have both environmental consciousness and a disposable product. And no diaper pail to boot.

I'm not in this baby business anymore -- and I have absolutely no financial interest in this product -- but I think it's a cool idea.

I'm with you-the concept has been long in coming. Coincidentally this exact subject came up at a recent (early) Holiday party I attended. It was pointed out that the current 'disposables' require a lot of time to decompose while filling up the available landfills plus most people simply do not dispose of the human waste first before dropping it in the nearst trash bin thereby really contaminating the local dumps. I just hope everyone's sewage pipes can handle the onslaugh. The baby boom is still going strong!
